Design
Designs of the Theatermachine begin with listening and talking. The performance is our starting point. Our designs are a part of the performances, but they must never outshine them.
The Theatermachine pursues an interaction between the action on stage and the design; one could provoke the other. We therefore think it's important to get involved in the production at an early stage. Not only can we prepare thoroughly, but we can also develop a common language in order to keep communication at a high level throughout the whole creative process.
We have a dramaturgical background as well as extensive technical knowledge. This way we can make technology really work creatively.
During the last stage of the creative process everything comes together. That's when the Theatermachine is at it's best and when we prove to be a true Theatermachine. We like the dynamics of this period. It is at this stage that we are most aware of the flexibility, persistence and creativity that people expect from us.
After the first performance we stay involved. We will continue fine-tuning, because a performance keeps developing. All our designs will be well documented for any future reruns.
