Floriaan graduated Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam on the subject 'Light as a dramaturgical means'. During his study he started to work for modern dance company Emio Greco|PC as technical coordinator. For this company he did technical preparations and worked as sound and light operator in national and international tours. He also made lighting designs for the company.

From 2000 on Floriaan makes lighting designs for different companies. Because of his dramaturgical background the light that he design is always strongly connected to the contents of the piece. Floriaan specializes in the consecution of images and the timing thereof.

As a lighting designer Floriaan worked for: The Dutch National Opera, De Nationale Reisopera, Springdance Festival, Theatregroup De Nieuw Amsterdam, De Wereldband, De Brakke Zondag, Merlijn Twaalfhoven and The Asko|Schönberg Ensemble.
