After he graduated from the Amsterdam Theatre school in 2006, Maarten mainly worked as lighting designer. As such he is active in the fields of opera, dance, plays, music theatre, modern music and location theatre.

Besides his work as a designer, Maarten has extensive experience in technical production and as lx technician.
Maarten has worked for different companies and theatres. A selection includes: De Nationale Reisopera, Theatregroup Orkater, The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland Festival, Toneelschuurproductions, Festival aan de Werf, The Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, Conny Jansen Danst (dancecompany) and Xynix Opera.
