Last July The Asko|Schönberg played Im Wunderschönen Monat Mai at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. Maarten Warmerdam made a new light design for the performance.

Im wunderschönen Monat Mai is the impressive comeback of Reinbert de Leeuw as a composer and orchestrator. The ‘three times seven songs after Schumann and Schubert', which De Leeuw ‘recomposed' especially for actress Barbara Sukowa, has already received a great deal of interest. With his playful reference to Schönberg's Sprechgesang and the melancholy reminder of the world of Schubert and Schumann De Leeuw has given the song recital a new impulse.

The Im Wunderschönen Monat Mai will be performed again on the 27th of February 2010 In the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
