Afro-Arab Baroque Opera The Sacrifice

The Sacrifice is a unique and new interpretation of Giacomo Carrisimi’s oratorio Jephte. As is custom at World Opera Lab, this story is being told by music from the various communities that live in Amsterdam-West. The production was staged as an outdoor production on the Mercatorplein in Amsterdam-West, but was moved to The Atrium in Het Sieraad on the Postjesweg due to the weather conditions.

Floriaan Ganzevoort of Theatermachine designed a light installation for the outdoor location; assistant lighting designer Mike Evers made a proper translation of the design to the indoor location.
