Light and museums

Theatermachine makes light designs and supervises the implementation thereof for permanent and temporary exhibitions in museums in the Netherlands and abroad. The bases for the design are the content of the exhibition, the museum space and the perception of the exhibition as a whole. We strive for an image in which the artworks are the starting point and the various rooms are in line with each other in atmosphere, colour temperature and light intensity. To achieve this we work closely with artists, exhibition designers, curators and custodians.

Our designs are not carved in stone; in consultation with the client, we constantly look for the best solution. We strive not only to achieve an optimal experience for the visitor, but also to ensure that the art is not damaged by harmful light components.

Due to the diverse backgrounds of the partners, we can give advice about fixtures, controls and infrastructure. The combination of technical knowledge and creativity makes our imagination realistic and feasible.
