Mike is lighting designer for theatre, concerts, events, broadcast recordings, museums and architecture. He started his career as an all-round theatre technician in Schouwburg Amstelveen. Thereafter he chose a career as freelance lighting technician for touring productions. As a technical producer he has worked for many film and music festivals.
His clients include IDFA, Share Knowledge Now, Royal Carré Theatre, NBE (Nederlands Blazers Ensemble), Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Dutch National Touring Opera, Stage Entertainment (De Tweeling, Shrek the Musical, Flashdance), Stedelijk Museum and EYE Film Museum.
Mike has illuminated and programmed many large scale theatre shows and events, as well as created light and video designs for several touring productions. He is an experienced broadcast lighting professional and has worked for television recordings of theatre productions, as well as for shows specifically created for broadcast. Furthermore he works as a consultant for new lighting installations. More recently Mike has been very active in exhibition lighting. His skills range from technical production, programming and operating lighting control desks, control systems engineering to video technology and media servers. As a teacher Mike provides training on several lighting control desks.
