Jean Nouvel is a very special French architect. His buildings stand out by the very special use of light. In an interviews he says: “When I interplay the effects of light and material, I’m really interplaying the effects of seduction and illusion. I am raising questions on materials in a purely symbolic way. So when I say ‘de-materialisation’, materials nonetheless exist. I am just giving the illusion that materials have vanished.”
A highlight in this respect is yet to be build; the Louvre in Abu Dhabi.
The future complex includes four other museums: Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Guggenheim), Performing Arts Centre, Abu Dhabi National Museum and Maritime Museum.
